Ladies' Aid
"Well done, thou good and faithful
servant."
Mathew 25:21
This organization of women took an active interest in the welfare of the congregation. The activities included
serving refreshments after funerals at church, collecting money for missions, Bible study, and related Christian activities at meetings,
plus special luncheons in December and May.
The Aid met every month, on the second Wednesday, September through May at 1:00 p.m.
in Reichmann Hall.
And now, because of very limited membership and the
aging of the individual members, it was decided at a special meeting
held on March 13, 2006, that after 65 years of loving service to their
Lord, the last seven members voted to disband the Ladies' Aid Society of
St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
The money that was left in the treasury was given to the Altar Guild to be used toward the purchase of a new
flag in the chancel of our church, and toward the purchase of new aisle
candle holders.

Someone once said: "Nostalgia is like a grammar
lesson. You
find the present tense and the past perfect!
With praise and thanks to God over the last 65 years,
many, many service projects were completed by the Ladies' Aid for St.
Paul's and for other churches and church-related organizations. These
many undertakings included serving and caring for the needs of others
and generally doing what is considered by many to be good and right.
Martin Luther once said, "God doesn't need our good works, but our
neighbor does."
So it is with a sad heart that we close the book on the
Ladies' Aid Society of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and pray
that the work of the many members over the years will have lasting
memories for all who participated.
