Our Beliefs

St. Paul’s is a member of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod which has nearly three million baptized members in over 6,200 congregations in the 50 United States and 40 world countries.

We believe…
……the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.
……Jesus is our personal Savior.
……Jesus has redeemed us from sin, death, and hell.
……through faith in Jesus we will have eternal life in heaven.
……we serve Him with our lives.

St. Paul’s teaches, believes, and confesses that in Holy Communion we receive the true body and true blood of Jesus Christ with the consecrated bread and wine. Every penitent and believing communicant who confesses the real presence of Christ’s body and blood in this Sacrament receives the benefits of this Sacrament – namely, the forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation.

Holy Communion is celebrated in each service unless otherwise noted. Both the common cup and individual cups are offered. For those who have dietary restrictions, a non-alcoholic wine is also available.

The Apostle Paul

Many Christian churches name their congregations after people from the Bible.  Visitors have asked why we named our church after the Apostle Paul.  Our founding members realized that many qualities of the Apostle Paul’s life and ministry were the same goals we strive for as a congregation.  Above all, we are committed to spreading the Gospel message to all parts of the neighboring community and distant lands just as St. Paul was throughout the Mediterranean world.  Here are the comparisons…

  • Paul had dual citizenship – both as a Greek and a Jew.  We also have dual citizenship, here on earth and as redeemed saints waiting for our heavenly citizenship.
  • Paul was well-educated.  We strive to be in God’s Word, and to know Him better in and through our life.
  • Paul’s life was marred with sinful ambitions, but God changed his life to become a great witness to Jesus Christ.  Our lives, too, are marred by sin, but God has forgiven us through the merits of His Son, Jesus Christ – and now we become 21st century witnesses.
  • Paul saw the purpose of his life as a voice in proclaiming the Good News of salvation in Jesus.  Our purpose is the same – as  voices of the Good News about Jesus in our present age.
  • Paul became an encouragement to all he knew.  We strive to be an encouragement to our family and acquaintances by sharing our Christ-centered life and faith.
  • Paul wanted the world to see Jesus through him.  We want the world to see Jesus through us in all we think and do and say.
  • Paul lived his life blessed by God and then died in the faith.  Our goal is to live our lives blessed by God and then die in the faith.

The Apostle Paul’s life was not an easy one.  He faced many illnesses and problems we face today.  Yet God used Paul to be a blessing to His world and now also two thousand years later – to our world through His teachings and writings.  Our congregation  is committed to God’s guidance and care, as He uses us to be a blessing to our world now and in years to come.
